A reception followed at the Canadian Ambassadors Official Residence where
416 Squadron gave presentations to the family members and others. Some of these
included the awarding of the Special Service Medal (with NATO Bar) and
certificate of Service to the family of F/O Volfing in recognition of his
service to Canada and NATO Forces in Europe in 1954.
Special presentations were also made to the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen as a
token of the Canadian Government and 416 TAC (F) Squadron’s gratitude for
preserving the grave for so long. Further presentations were also made to the
Moroccan Ambassador to Denmark. In addition the Canadian Ambassador was made an
Honorary Squadron member by LCol Byrne and awarded his flying jacket, name tag "FONZIE",
pilots wings and an open invitation to visit 416 TAC (F) squadron to receive a
ride in a CF-18 Hornet.
